Couples
We’ve all heard that relationships can be difficult and take work, but sometimes we don’t know the type of work we should be doing. Couples counseling provides a safe space to explore, collaborate and process to help you reach the relationship goals you desire. Using EFT couples therapy, Prepare and Enrich, and methods from Gottman research, I desire to come alongside couples and help them build connection, communication, intimacy and trust.
Adolescents and Teens
Being an adolescent or teenager can be a challenging time of life. Identity, anxiety, depression are just some of the common struggles teens are faced with. I use a variety of methods when working with youth to best meet their needs. Whether it’s talk therapy, sand tray, games or art, healing and processing can occur through the power of relationship and connection.
Children 4+
What is Play Therapy?
Play is a child’s form of communication, just like words are for adults. Adults most often feel better when they come in for talk therapy and have a place where they can unload their struggles, feelings and feel support. For children, creating a space where they can play out their feelings and process, allows them to do it in their language of play.
Aren’t You Just Playing?
Play therapy is different than playing with your child at home. It is non directive and focuses on the person of the child. Children will use the toys to say what they have difficulty saying with words. When they are able to communicate or play out in a way they feel to someone who understands, they feel better because their feelings are released. Just the way we as adults feel better when we share with someone. Kids can use puppets, dolls, characters or other toys to say what they think or how they feel.
